Searching Alluc: any title, any spelling, and what to do with "no results found"

How the search reads titles in any language and spelling, why "no results found" almost never happens now, and how the filters narrow a list.

The search box is the site

Alluc was a search engine before it was anything else, and the box on the front page is still the way in. Type the title in English, in its original language or as the shorthand people use: Dark and its German title agree, Squid Game and its Korean title agree, "bcs" finds Better Call Saul, "got" finds Game of Thrones. Words like "watch", "online", "free", "hd", "stream", "download", "episode" and "alluc" are stripped before the search runs, so a phrase pasted from a search engine finds the title rather than nothing.

No results found

"alluc no results found" was a phrase people typed about the old engine. Here an empty result has three causes: a title in another language, which the original-title search covers; a film searched as a series or the reverse, which the Films and Series tabs separate; or a title that is on the shelves under a different release name, which the exact titles page explains. The A-Z list is the whole catalogue in one scroll for the cases that remain.

Filters

The search page adds type, genre, year, status, country, language and a minimum rating, with a sort by popularity, newest, rating or name. Add an episode, "south park s26e3", and the results narrow to the series with that dated episode; the season page opens with the row highlighted. The seasons page explains the numbering.
